Film Projects & Music Recording
Films & Animation
Due to the inability to perform live on stage over this past year, we have created a number of projects created by and starring our clients. These range from original live action shows like Stories With Cass, to our animated series The Land of Music. View projects like these, and educational content directly from our therapists, at www.youtube.com/aplacetobefamily
Recording Studio
In addition to video content, our recording studio allows clients to express themselves through original music, singing, and playing instruments. Check out our Spotify to hear more original music starring A Place To Be clients.
Same Sky Project & Live Programming
The Same Sky Project features a traveling group of performers who advocate for and promote messages of empathy, love, inclusion, acceptance and inspiration through music and performance. Conceived in 2011 by a client with cerebral palsy, the Same Sky Project showcases a changing group of teens, each with different physical, intellectual and developmental challenges who perform original shows at local school assemblies in an effort to communicate their daily struggles and aspirations to fellow classmates. Popular shows such as Behind the Label, A Will To Survive and most recently Abira and the Mountain and Music & Emotion, have played before more than 70,000 local students. In 2017, A Will To Survive, the original rock-opera style musical tackling the sensitive topics of mental health and suicide prevention also played to a sold-out audience at The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

“I spent much of the lunch shift that day talking with kids about the show- both boys and girls loved it and we’ve already had an increase in the number of kids who want to participate in our Bridges program- it’s kids who use their study hall to work with our special needs program students!”

"Its truly amazing guys, that despite all the things that are happening in the world that we can turn to each other and see that, yeah, we are all different, but why should that matter, we can still love each other. Thank you."
